suffrin-roee-2Today is the 1st day of the 4th Biblical Month of YHVH.

Judaism refers to this month as Tammuz, after the pagan Sun god - but this is just simply not found in scripture, not to mention it being wrong on so many levels…

My family and I are celebrating the Rosh Chodesh Chag today with study, worship, prayer, singing, dancing, and food!

We did a video last nite that I will post unedited for now, than I will post the second part later today or tommorow.

For now, though, here are the study notes from the Rosh Chodesh Chag (New Moon Feast) teaching I did with the family.

The New Moon Feast

Celebrated in Brit Chadasha (New Testament)

Col 2:16-17 KJV Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:  (17)  Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

חדשׁ H2320 chôdesh kho’-desh - From H2318; the new moon; by implication a month: - month (-ly), new moon.

BDB Definition:
1) the new moon, month, monthly
1a) the first day of the month
1b) the lunar month

YHVH gave commandments concerning the new moon in Torah.

The Moon Was to Be Used As Signals and to Determine Appointed Times (Moedim), Days, & Years

Gen 1:14-19 KJV And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:  (15)  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.  (16)  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.  (17)  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,  (18)  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.  (19)  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Blowing the Trumpets

Num 10:10 KJV Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

Psa 81:3-5 KJV Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.  (4)  For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.  (5)  This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

And Offering Sacrifices

Num 28:10-14 KJV This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.  (11)  And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot;  (12)  And three tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one bullock; and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, for one ram;  (13)  And a several tenth deal of flour mingled with oil for a meat offering unto one lamb; for a burnt offering of a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.  (14)  And their drink offerings shall be half an hin of wine unto a bullock, and the third part of an hin unto a ram, and a fourth part of an hin unto a lamb: this is the burnt offering of every month throughout the months of the year.

The New Moon is a Chag (Feast Day)

Psa 81:3-5 KJV Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.  (4)  For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.  (5)  This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

1Sa 20:5 KJV And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

1Sa 20:18-19 KJV Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.  (19)  And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.

1Sa 20:24-27 KJV
So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.  (25)  And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.  (26)  Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.  (27)  And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?

The New Moon is a Worship Day

Isa 66:23 KJV And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Eze 46:1-6 KJV Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.  (2)  And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.  (3)  Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.  (4)  And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.  (5)  And the meat offering shall be an ephah for a ram, and the meat offering for the lambs as he shall be able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah.  (6)  And in the day of the new moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.

2Ki 4:22-23 KJV And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.  (23)  And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.

No Buying or Selling Took Place on the New Moon

Amo 8:4-8 KJV Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,  (5)  Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?  (6)  That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?  (7)  The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. (8)  Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

The Kings Kept The New Moon Commandment

Solomon

2Ch 2:3-5 KJV And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.  (4)  Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.  (5)  And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.

2Ch 8:12-13 KJV Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,  (13)  Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

Hezekiah

2Ch 31:2-3 KJV And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.  (3)  He appointed also the king’s portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

So Did the Prophets

Ezra

Ezr 3:4-5 KJV They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;  (5)  And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.

Nehemiah

Neh 10:32-33 KJV Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;  (33)  For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

& The Priests in Davids Temple

1Ch 23:31 KJV And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

The Princes Were to Keep the New Moon Sacrifice

Eze 45:16-17 KJV All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel.  (17)  And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

YHVH Will Not Accept the Sinful and Unclean in New Moon Assemblies

Isa 1:9-16 KJV Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.  (10)  Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.  (11)  To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.  (12)  When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?  (13)  Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.  (14)  Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.  (15)  And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. (16)  Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Sin & Idolatry Will Cause YHWH to Remove the Joy from The New Moon Feasts

Hos 2:10-11 KJV And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.  (11)  I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

The New Moon Feast Is Not Counted as One of The Six Working Days or Sabbaths

Eze 46:1 KJV Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

The New Moon Feast Sometimes Lasted Two Days

1Sa 20:5 KJV And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

1Sa 20:18-19 KJV Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.  (19)  And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.

1Sa 20:24-27 KJV So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.

My Family of Mix-BreedsNow that we have the scriptural references out of the way, I want to express my observations based on those same scriptures. I just simply cannot see any inference what soever to a general forbearance by YHVH against a practice known as “race-mixing”.

It just simply does not exist scripturally.

My Scriptural Positions

  1. There is no concept of “Race” or color, as understood by Western modern society, mentioned anywhere in the Tanakh or Brit Chadasha.
  2. Any person or teacher who insists on using “race” as biblically a legitimate concept must convert the term to its closest BIBLICAL equivalent; Nations, Tribes, Peoples, Kindreds, Families, and Tongues, being the ONLY terms used to separate groups of people. This presents several issues to the adherent of this doctrine:
      • The terms above are interchangeable and hierarchical in scripture and therefore cannot completely be limited to singular definition.
      • The terms are used to refer to the 7+ nations forbidden in intermarriage, as well as all other distinctive anthropological groups, so therefore cannot be exclusive to either the forbidden, or the general populous of “other nations”.
      • Separation of nations based on phenotype (physical characteristics) is an unscriptural concept.
      • Because “miscegenation” is a modern term based on a limited modern understanding of “racial distinction” it is therefore inadmissible as a valid doctrinal term for the teaching of YHVH’s word to His people.
      • Neither the Tanakh nor the Brit Chadasha, relay that the Hebrew or Greek term for adultery, in any remote sense, literally or figuratively, insinuates, or otherwise plainly states that “race mixing,” nation mixing, miscegenation, or any variation thereof represents an alternate or secondary meaning of the term.
      • Adultery, as defined by Scripture, has a singular secondary figurative meaning of idolatry found solely within the context of Scripture, therefore the term “miscegenation” or “race mixing” is an invalid and unscriptural definition.
      • The forbidding of intermarriage by YHVH concerning His people had very specific limitation as to who could not be considered a candidate and very specific reasons for those included in the prohibited list.
          • Gen 6:2-3; Exo 34:15-16; Jos 23:12-13; Jdg 3:6-7; 1Ki 11:2; Ezr 9:1-2; Neh 13:23-27; 2Co 6:14-17
          • The specific limitations of which nations could not be engaged in marital covenant with the sons of Israel are cited in every instance of national repentance for this specific sin along with the very specific reasons for such prohibitions.
              • Ezr 9; Neh 13:23-30
              • Skin color, hair texture, lip shape or size are not in any instance listed or otherwise inferred to be the reason for this prohibition by YHVH including the passages of national repentance concerning this specific sin.
              • The Scriptural sin of mingling diverse kinds (Gen 1:20-25; Lev 19:19; Deut 22:9-12) is only specifically limited to:
                • gendering cattle
                • sowing seed for a vineyard or field plowing with 2 different animals
                • garments of linen & cotton together
                • And since there is no single instance of specific mention, or indirect inference of the application of this sin to refer to different nations, “races” , or skin colors of people in the Tanakh or Brit Chadasha, it is an invalid source to cite to defend the unscriptural concept of the “sin of ‘race’ mixing”.
                • Since all of the prohibited nations listed as forbidden in regards to marriage can be traced to a singular ancestry of Noah scripturally, they then, by the definition of those who espouse the doctrine, are of the same “race”.  Therefore the position of the prohibition of marriage between “races”, on the basis of it being sin taught in Torah by these specifically cited verses, is false and invalid scripturally.
                    • Genesis 9, 10, 11
                    • Since the Torah limits the forbidding of intermarriage to 7+ specific nations, we cannot exegetically “expand” this in to include “all” other nations, peoples, tribes, etc.
                    • Since the stranger or sojourner, not of the lineage of Israel, is allowed to live with, worship with and sacrifice with the general populous of Israel, we cannot exegetically “limit” the stranger to exclude “all” nations, peoples, tribes, etc. and “races” (If there was such a thing scripturally) aside from those specifically mentioned 5-7 forbidden nations.
                    • Since there is neither the scriptural forbidding or allowance of intermarriage with the stranger that sojourns with Israel, this cannot be used as proof to justify such marriages or deny them, however certain inferences can be made exegetically based on land inheritance law in Torah:
                        • The sons of the stranger might be refused an Israelite daughter based on the grounds of her potential inheritance of land upon her father’s death without heirs, or remaining brother’s death without heirs or a kinsmen wife.
                        • The sons of Israel might be permitted to take a daughter of a stranger if upon his death without an heir she remarried one of his kinsmen to prevent land transfer.
                        • Concerning captive women from wars, YHVH permits and commands the taking of captive women “for yourself” so that you can enjoy the spoils of your enemies. The commandment is for “all” the cities that are “far off” and not of the nations nearby whose land was to be possessed.  Therefore since YHVH did not limit the nations whom could be captured and had as wives in the term ”all”, aside for those nation specifically mentioned as forbidden with the explanation as to why, The position and doctrine of “race mixing” as sin is eradicated and invalidated on the basis of scriptural evidence.
                            • Deu 20:13-18; Deu 21:10-14

Based solely on scripture, there is no way to conclude that YHVH was in any way opposed to so called “race mixing”. The concept as we understand it today is not found in scripture.

In another post I will try to deal with the phenotypes that are listed scripturally. This will furthur descimate the doctrine.

From what I can determine, aperson holding to this belief would have to do so out of personal prefference and non scriptural or scientific proof. Which is fine, but we cannot teach for doctrine “the commandments of men”

                            My Master taught me that.

                            Shalom

                            Bro. Marlon

stella-and-her-familySo, do the scriptures condemn miscegenation or “interracial marriage” as an abomination and akin to, if not fully - adultery?

If they do, then a lot of repentance and “putting away” needs to occur. I for one do not want to be caught on the wrong side of the commandments of YHVH and His son Yeshua.

When faced with the plain meaning of scripture, unencumbered by “the doctrines and opinions of man”, I am as of late the first one to the alter of repentance. I simply refuse to any longer allow my personal preferences and blindness to hinder my lining up with the perfect will of Him who created me.

                            As one website puts it:

Race-mixing is an abomination in the sight of Almighty God, a satanic attempt meant to destroy the chosen seedline, and is strictly forbidden by His commandments (Exo. 34:14-16; Num. 25:1-13; I Cor. 10:8/ Rev. 2:14; Deut. 7:3-4; Joshua 23:12-13; I Kings 11:1-3; Ezra 9:2, 10-12; 10:10-14; Neh. 10:28-30, 13;3, 27; Hosea 5;7; Mal. 2:11-12). - http://www.kingidentity.com/doctrine.htm

But what if this doctrine simply cant be found, as it is taught, in scripture?

Lets examine what the scriptures actually say so that you can make your own conclusion.

Only specific Nations, not “races”, were prohibited from intermarriage with specific reasons why:

Exo 34:11-16 Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.  (12)  Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:  (13)  But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:  (14)  For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:  (15)  Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;  (16)  And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

Deu 7:1-6 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;  (2)  And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:  (3)  Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.  (4)  For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.  (5)  But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.  (6)  For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Jos 23:11-13 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.  (12)  Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:  (13)  Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

Jdg 3:1-8 Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;  (2)  Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;  (3)  Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.  (4)  And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.  (5)  And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:  (6)  And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.  (7)  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.  (8)  Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.

1Ki 11:1-12 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;  (2)  Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.  (3)  And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.  (4)  For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.  (5)  For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.  (6)  And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.  (7)  Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.  (8)  And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.  (9)  And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,  (10)  And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.  (11)  Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.  (12)  Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

National repentance was for this specific sin with these specific nations forbidden in Torah, for the specific reason given:

Ezr 9:1-3 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.  (2)  For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. (3)  And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.

                            Neh 13:23-30 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:  (24)  And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.  (25)  And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves. (26)  Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.  (27)  Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives? (28)  And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.  (29)  Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.  (30)  Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;

The principle still applies today! For the EXACT same reasons…

2Co 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  (15)  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?  (16)  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  (17)  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,  (18)  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

But wait, the Torah allowed intermarriage with all other nations and enemies of Israel!

Deu 20:13-18 KJV And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:  (14)  But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.  (15)  Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.  (16)  But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:  (17)  But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:  (18)  That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.

Deu 21:10-14 KJV When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,  (11)  And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;  (12)  Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;  (13)  And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.  (14)  And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

                            Hope I didn’t miss anything…

                            Shalom in Yeshua

interracial_family136160442In my last post I talked about a doctrine that has come to my attention as a result of listening to some very well taught messages from a brother named Mathew Janzen from Conyers, Georgia. Most of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The doctrine is called “The Sin of Miscegenation” derived from an amalgamation (no pun intended) of scriptures dealing with mixing seeds, adultery, and nations forbidden in marriage.

In this post I will define some terms that will make it easier and clearer to follow the next couple of posts, and to understand the basis of this doctrine, which has often reared its head among the ranks of Oneness Pentecostals, Mormons, “White Israel”, and “Black Israel” supremacists. I will be providing definitions and cited sources without much commentary.

                            Lets begin:

                            3.

the mixing or a mixture of races by interbreeding.

                            miscegenation

marriage or cohabitation by persons of different race. Theories that the anatomical disharmony of children resulted from miscegenation were discredited by 20th-century genetics and anthropology. Although it is now accepted that modern populations are the result of the continuous mixing of various populations since prehistoric times, taboos on miscegenation-in some instances legally enforced-have existed and continue to exist in many race-based societies. In South Africa the official policy of apartheid for many years included legal prohibitions on miscegenation. In the United States many states had laws against interracial marriage until the Supreme Court declared them unconstitutional in 1967.

Sorry for the length and the nerdiness, but I wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page with these terms and thier origins.

“Race”, as it stands is a modern western word that has the meaning of clasification by “color”. An uneducated form of classifying humans since there is only one “race”, genus, species - HUMAN.

Look up the Human Genome Project… funny thing is that there is more variation within “races” than between them, and all attmpts to use phenotypes to classify end up a mess that crosses “race” lines even for “lilly whites”.

                            Thats it for now…

audra-and-her-familyI recently have been blessed by the teachings of a couple of brothers out of Conyers, Georgia named Brother Matthew Janzen and Brother Arnold Bowen.

I downloaded several of Matthews’ teachings to my BlackBerry 8350i so that I could enjoy them on my long trips to Houston.

You can visit them at MinistersNewCovenant.org

The thing that I found so refreshing about Matthew is that he dealt with biblical subjects with objectivity, sobriety, and scholarship allowing the scriptures to speak for themselves on whatever the issue. Coming from a background were so much of doctrine was subject to the interpretation and understanding of the current leadership, it was freeing to find someone who shared my passion for “sound doctrine” presented line upon line.

Then I came across a series of his teachings entitled “All Mixed Up” followed by “The Kingdom and Holy Sex”, that hit me like a Mack Truck from nowhere! This is where I was first exposed to his belief in “interracial marriage” as a sin taught in scripture.

To take it further, he went on to explain that not only was it sin, but it specifically spanned from hybridization to adultery!

I listened on in astonishment and shock…

Well, it took me several days, but, I finally mustered up the patience to hear the brother out on the matter, knowing full well that his position was in latent violation of both scripture, and the objective manner in which he approaches every other subject matter. Frankly, he came across as indoctrinated by a colloquial belief that more than likely would not be parted with easily or quickly, if at all.

I am sometimes guilty of becoming a bigot of Jonah quality when it comes to the beliefs held by men, finding often that they would rather hold to what “they believe” even if it violates scripture, than conform to the plain meaning and teachings of the scriptures.

After calling and talking to Matthew I have a better understanding of His position and beliefs. I also asked if it was possible he could be wrong, to which he answered a comforting, “yes”.

After explaining how I objectively looked at his points on the matter, he suggested that I should put my views in writing… so, here we are.

One other thing to mention, I and my wife both come from “mixed race” backgrounds, so this subject does hit a little “close to home” - pardon the pun.

In order to not be overwhelming in any one blog post, I have broken this subject up into several posts for ease of absorption and readership. I’ll deal with this issue in this manner:

                            1. Definition of terms
                            2. Scriptural References and Background
                            3. My Biblical Positions
                            4. My Answers to Matthews 6 Key Points About Miscegenation

Before Beginning, I’d also like to add a couple of things. 1) While I don’t agree with this particular teaching, I love and respect Brother Matthew as a man of Elohim - I can’t tell you how much doctrine I’ve butchered over the years. 2) Although I use the term “false doctrine” in relation to this teaching of his, I mean it in no way to infer that he is a false teacher, However, I do believe that holding to unscriptural doctrines can lead one down that path.

I am going to publish the Passover videos from this year with out editing so that you guys can have them.

I am going to do the same thing with last years Sukkot Vids as well.

I am still going to finish the editing, but after my wife confirmed the exact words YHWH spoke to me this morning about posting the unedited video, who was I to resist God?

I am still learning so much from this study myself, so feel free to critique and comment on my errors and omissions.

                            Shabbat Shalom

“Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH (the LORD” thy Elohim (God) in vain; for YHWH (the LORD) will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” - Exodus 20:7 KJV

This particular scripture was on my heart this morning as it has come up a few time over the years. The one underlying theme when it does come up is how misused and misapplied the scripture is, especially in the “bible belt”.

For most “conservative” Christians (as if a distinction has to be made), the meaning and application of this commandment lies squarely on not using the title “God” in a casual, “swear-like”, or an explitive way. “God dammit!”, “Oh my God!”, and “Jesus Christ!” head up the trinity of unforgivable expressions.

While I would agree that these are innapropriate expressions that I teach my children to avoid, the fact remains that this is not the same as breaking the 3rd Commandment of YHWH.

Lets look at what the scripture actually means by defining a couple of words in their original Hebrew using Strong’s.

                            “Take” - Nasa (H5375) - aXn

                            1. to lift, bear up, carry, take
                              1. (Qal)
                                1. to lift, lift up
                                2. to bear, carry, support, sustain, endure
                                3. to take, take away, carry off, forgive
                              2. (Niphal)
                                1. to be lifted up, be exalted
                                2. to lift oneself up, rise up
                                3. to be borne, be carried
                                4. to be taken away, be carried off, be swept away
                              3. (Piel)
                                1. to lift up, exalt, support, aid, assist
                                2. to desire, long (fig.)
                                3. to carry, bear continuously
                                4. to take, take away
                              4. (Hithpael) to lift oneself up, exalt oneself
                              5. (Hiphil)
                                1. to cause one to bear (iniquity)
                                2. to cause to bring, have brough

The word Nasa is used 654 times in the Hebrew scriptures, and is translated as “to bare or lift up, to cary, or take away” some 442 times (more than 2/3’s of the time). Therefore the use of the word “take” in this passage must carry the same connotation since it is used only 58 times as such.

“the LORD” - YHWH (H3068) hwhy

Yahweh or (Jehovah) = “the existing One”

                            1. the proper name of the one true God

The replacement title “the LORD” is a perfect example of what this study is about. Superstitious rabbinical Jews falsely associate saying his name at all with taking it in vain. If we’re not supposed to pronounce it, then why is it used 6,519 in the Hebrew Scriptures? HIS name is YHWH (Yahweh) and HE is our God!

Anybody can be a lord, but there is only one YHWH!

                            “Vain” - Shav (H7723) awX

                            1. emptiness, vanity, falsehood
                              1. emptiness, nothingness, vanity
                              2. emptiness of speech, lying
                              3. worthlessness (of conduct)

The word vanity here means falsehood or emptiness, like an “empty handed promise” (i.e. lie). We often associate vanity with pride or conceitedness, but that is not the meaning of the word shav.

Let’s just look at the book of Psalms to see if this is true. Shav is used a total of 53 times in the Hebrew scriptures, and 14 of those times are in psalms. All the words in red are where the word shav has been translated into English.

Substitute the word in red for some variation of the word lie, lies, lying, or falsehood and see if it fits in the scripture.

                            Hebrew Word: AwX
                            Transliterated Word: shav’
                            Book to Display: Psalms
                            Verse Count: 14

Ps 12:2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
Ps 24:4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Ps 26:4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
Ps 31:6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
Ps 41:6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
Ps 60:11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Ps 89:47 Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?
Ps 108:12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Ps 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
Ps 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Ps 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Ps 139:20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
Ps 144:8 Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
Ps 144:11 Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

We see that there is no stretch to use the term lie or falsehood in the place of vanity in the third mitsvah (commandment).

So now, lets put all this together and see if we can get a simple BIBLICAL meaning of the 3rd commandment of YHWH that can easily apply to our lives so that we may keep it.

Thou shalt not bare-up or carry upon yourself the name of Yahweh thy God in falsehood (hypocricy); for Yahweh will not leave him unpunished that bares upon himself his name in falsehood (an untrue manner). - Exodus 20:7

I’m going to stop here for now, and finish the rest of this study tomorrow. As I got a little deeper into this, some profound and shocking truths have jumped out.

                            Baruch Shalom
